Drum winches often need a tension source to keep the sail sheets taut. These tension rings are a much better choice then the stainless steel small springs that are sometimes used. The problem with the spring is that there is a constant chance of the spring being caught on or below the deck and being pulled out of shape. there is the added problem of the spring on deck actually scratching the deck surface. these tension rings are uv proof, much stronger and not likely to rot over time like conventional rubber o rings that are some times used. the round shape prevent the tension ring from hanging up on ojects on the deck.
